Personal history is the foundation of my work. My aesthetic is rich with luxury, shape and color which are blended with antiquity and a modernism. My aesthetic has is rooted in the late 50s and early 60s. I love to make beautifully tailored dresses and suits from this era. My designs are not overly decorated in fact I allow the inherent beauty of the textiles to speak in their own subtle way. I like the choices I have in doing so. I can always add a patent leather belt and fabulous shoes to wear something elegant. I can also add handmade fingerless gloves, and a belt that mimics an apron made of iridescent feathers and iridescent leather and antique lace.
I see my customers as an extension of myself, a 21st century women, busy with her interests, travel, books, politics, and a long and passionate list of things to do.
I started my own label in Provincetown in 1995 where I lived with my daughter for nearly 9 years. Gallery nights, endless dinner parties, the beaches, of course, the cast of characters were a great source of inspiration and a significant moment in my life of change. I grew up in an artist home; this was an extension of my life growing up. It is the struggle, sometimes heartbreaking to bring your ideas to the marketplace reality that is hard and fufilling work. In Provincetown, I am in good company with others working towards that same goal.
Sally Bridge Designs is proud to manufacture all of our clothing in the United States.
